FAQ

I understand that some folks haven’t ventured into the “blog” world yet, but it doesn’t have to be confusing or scary… Actually it’s a lot easier way to stay up to date on friends and family than sending out updated e-mails etc. Use the links below to see how you can subscribe to a blog and get updates when news is posted.

Q: What is a “Blog”?
A:  Wikipedia defines “Blog” simply:

A blog (comes from web log) is a website where entries are commonly displayed in reverse chronological order. “Blog” can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog. Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs.

Q: What does a blog have to do with you Amy?
A:  There are a couple of features that make a blog a great medium for me to share info with you.

  1. The reverse chronological order lets you see the most recent news.
  2. Comments section makes it interactive… pose questions, offer suggestions, share stories.
  3. You can subscribe to the content so you know when there are new postings. The technology is called RSS– Really Simple Syndication.  Read more about it here.  You can use your internet browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox) to subscribe. Click on the one you use for step by step  instructions.
  4. Archives allow you to catch up if you haven’t been in touch.

Q: How can I comment on a blog post?
A: Click the title of the post you wish to reply to. At the bottom of the post is a comment box. Enter your comment and fill in the name and e-mail address fields. Click the Submit Comment button.

Q: Will we continue to get news via e-mail?
A: From time to time… but usually just a link to the blog!
